Principal Rolling Stock Engineer

Involved at all stages of the project from tender through design and build and on into operation the successful candidate will, in addition to providing support and expert advice to management and other team members, be responsible for:

• Coordination and supervision of both internal and external design activity
• All aspects of Rolling Stock Design, for example: Bogie, Doors, Couplings, and Interior layout
• Specification of components and sub systems
• Presentation of concepts and designs to Clients, management and suppliers

It is anticipated that candidates will have an Engineering Degree or HND in a relevant subject, and knowledge of the rail, light rail or public service vehicle industries.

Familiarity with modern materials and advanced approaches to the design process would be an advantage. Candidates will be expected to able to work creatively and independently adapting and producing innovative concepts.

At least two years or more experience in a similar role is required, although applications from individuals with relevant experience gained at a more junior level, possibly who are now looking for their first managerial appointment will be considered.
